By 1961, the Corvette had evolved into a very credible sports car, with a multitude of SCCA victories to its credit, as well as a respectable finish at the 1960 24 Hours of Le Mans. Styling was carefully updated under GM design chief Bill Mitchell with a subtle new grille design, while the new rear end treatment foreshadowed the upcoming Sting Ray with a neat ducktail design incorporating four cylindrical taillights. In addition, the growing list of standard equipment now included a tachometer, seat belts, sun visors, dual exhaust, carpeting, an electric clock, outside rearview mirror and an aluminum radiator.

This striking 1961 Corvette displays a recently refinished exterior in Roman Red with white side coves, enhanced by a new black Haartz cloth top and a new set of period style B.F. Goodrich wide whitewall tires, red painted steel wheels and correct bright wheel covers. The red vinyl interior was recently replaced and remains correct and very attractive today with few signs of wear, while amenities include a tachometer, clock, heater, defroster and an AM radio. The car also features numerous recent upgrades including a combination of new, re-plated and polished brightwork, as well as new door handles, emblems, parking and taillight housings, weather stripping, wiper arms and bezels, a radio antenna and trunk mat.

Power is provided by a 283 cubic inch V8 engine, topped by a Carter four-barrel carburetor with an original-type bright air cleaner. Other features include a recently replaced heater core, in addition to a temperature control valve and a fan motor, providing comfort in a wide variety of driving and weather conditions.

In 1961, Chevrolet built 10,939 Corvettes for true driving enthusiasts, and today they remain highly coveted by those who enjoy their sports cars with a high-performance American V8 engine under the hood. Accordingly, this very attractive and enjoyable 1961 Corvette is sure to please its new owner with its great combination of timeless styling, strong performance and recent cosmetic upgrades.
